Continuous Gutters
The Mustang Gutter System® has been at the forefront of quality and innovation for continuous aluminium gutters since there introduction in 1984.

Continuous Aluminium gutters were introduced in to Great Britain in the 1970's from Canada and it was decided to put the gutter system forward for British Board of Agrément approval which was awarded that year and stands today as the only continuous aluminium gutter system to have such approval.

Reports from Europe suggest that the use of continuous aluminium guttering is booming, whilst in America the process has led the way for decades.

Feedback from installers is always positive and one point that is mentioned frequently is the elimination of call backs due to leaks, because there are no joins in a straight run of this type of guttering.
Also when combined with hidden internal fixing brackets the gutter is remarkably strong, easily supporting a laden ladder.

Alumium Guttering can make an excellent replacement for old cast iron guttering systems

Cast Iron guttering problems

One end of each length of cast iron guttering has an outer joint profile lip, while the other end has the appropriate standard guttering profile. The second end could be cut to length and then sits into the outer lip of the adjacent length. Originally the joints were sealed using red lead, putty or other jointing material and secured with bolts through the bottom. With age, these sealants become brittle, and leak; the bolts become rusted and impossible to remove other than with a hacksaw or angle grinder.

Cast iron needs to be painted to protect it from the environment this is normally performed every 5 years and can take a considerable amount of time as the iron work has to be cleaned, wire brushed, degreased and finally painted.

An Alumium system is powder coated with paint on site as it is extruded into a continuous length, this scratch resistant coating can be in one of many colours and will last for years.

An Alumium system is considerably cheaper than a Cast Iron system

A single round 2meter length of Cast iron guttering can cost around £25 each

A single Box 2 meter length of Cast Iron guttering can cost up to £75 each

A single straight cast iron union joint can cost from £8 to £10 each angled joints up to £15 each.

When this is all totaled up a joint free Alumium system is much cheaper.
